A vacation project
I built this with ChatGPT in about a week while visiting friends in Florida during the Paris 2024 Olympics. The idea was to explore how changing the scoring system could change the way we compared countries’ medal results.
It was a small, time-bound experiment in turning an idea into a web application with AI assistance.
Two ways to rank
The tracker assigned 25 points to gold, 10 to silver, and 4 to bronze. “Alvie Mode” explored population-adjusted scores alongside those weighted medal totals.
The interface included national flags, light and dark modes, and a responsive medal table.
How it was built
Plain HTML, CSS, and JavaScript connected an unofficial Paris 2024 medal API with REST Countries flag and population data. A one-minute browser cache reduced repeat requests, and the repository included Firebase Hosting configuration.
Archived source
This portfolio entry preserves the experiment’s story. The original data integrations are historical, and the project is no longer maintained.
